We’ve put together some very special beers for less than $100 in this latest BEER MAIL! For some seasonal treats we added in a couple spiced pumpkin ales, including Phillips’ limited edition Crooked-er Tooth Barrel-Aged Pumpkin Ale, a bourbon barrel-aged version of their popular Crooked Tooth. Crush: A Fine Wine Affair, Sunday, October 22

Long before we opened Cook St. Liquor in the Cook Street Village we we had a VQA Wine Store that specialized in BC wine. Wine has always been a passion for us, so we are happy to be helping support Crush: A Fine Wine Affair, a benefit for the Belfry Theatre that will be held at the Inn at Laurel Point Sunday, October 22, 5-8pm.

Craft Beer Tasting Notes: Sept. 6

New releases were slim around Labour Day weekend but we expect them to pick up after the upcoming Great Canadian Beer Festival this Friday and Saturday (tickets for GCBF are still available, BTW). Craft Beer Tasting Notes: Aug 15

Can’t really say there was a “theme” to the latest craft beer arrivals, though they arrived from all over the world: Belgium, BC, San Diego and even New York City. I guess that’s sort of a theme. Style-wise, they are a little bit of everything: IPA, fruity gose, coffee blonde, spiced porter and Trappist-style quadrupel.

The cool thing about the style is the way that it continues to evolve and develop into many sub-styles. A basic IPA is going to be aromatic and bold with fruit and spice (and sometimes herbal) notes on the palate.
