Lots of exciting developments this week. First, take note of the delicious Merridale Cider—Merri Berri, Mo’ Moro and POG—now available in tall cans (473ml)! These will be hot sellers for their great serving size and ease of portability.
As Victoria’s craft beer specialty store, we load our fridges and shelves with an ever-changing selection of the best local and international brews.
This week’s new releases were pretty well split between fruit ales (and ciders) and IPAs. We have some really tasty versions of both, loaded with great summery flavours.
Plenty of new sour ales this week! Great for the hot weather! If you like something beyond basic kettle sours (of which we have many great ones), our hot tip is the Parallel 49 Son of a Peach Sour Weisse, which delivers a lot at a really good price. Also, we’re excited to get our first four brews from Courtenay’s Gladstone Brewing: IPA, Pilsner, Cream Ale and Belgian Single.
July is typically a very busy month for us and we inevitably miss a tasting notes post or two. However, we’re sneaking one in before the end of July with a glimpse of what’s rolled in lately. We’d like to note up front that we’re bulking up our cider selection with some quality offerings! Check out our cider fridge when you’re in!
Also of note, we are working with 91.
The Zone @ 91-3 is excited to team with Cook St. Liquor to tell you about the newest in craft beer, affordable and specialty wines, local ciders, artisan spirits and other unique beverage selections in Victoria.
Once a month, The Zone’s Jenny West will head down to Cook St. Liquor and sample the newest arrivals to hit the shelves.
A nice bunch of BC craft beer releases landed this week (which is par for the course these days), but we also received some cool European imports, as well. If you’re fan of barrel-aged sours, try the Lindemans Oude Gueuze pictured below. We also received some new ones (though not pictured) from Almanac in California, who are masters of farmhouse ales and barrel aged sours.
Every week we think that there’s no way we can top the previous week as far as new craft beer arrivals go, but then we are proven wrong week in and week out. This was a banner week all around whether you like IPAs (Boombox, Howe Sound, Yellow Dog/Ravens, Parkside, Steel + Oak, Cannery), sours (Burdock, Steamworks, Wild Beer Co.
Our big news from last week was that we now have a ton of cool Rewards that our Loyalty Program members can redeem their points on—everything from concert tickets for local shows and festivals to fun summertime swag and lots of brewery merch (using as little as 10 points!). For all the details, go here.
It was another onslaught of new arrivals last week, and not just cans! There was a little bit of everything—and definitely plenty of interesting cans.
We’re ramping up our selection and inventory for summer! So many new craft beer and cider arrivals. We have a whole section of our fridge dedicated to craft cider from BC and abroad. Check out three of our latest listed below. We also want to point out that we have a full array of beautiful (and tasty) Collective Arts cans from Ontario.
