We’re not the biggest liquor store in Victoria, nor do we have the largest selection of spirits. But what we put on our shelves, we have carefully selected. We love this trio of Highland single malt whiskies from Glendronach. These three offerings give you different price points and ages, as well as styles. While these are all great, the 12-year Sauternes cask-aged is a real treat.
Artisanal spirits and locally distilled products are our specialty.

BC craft spirits are a great local choice
Craft beer is not the only beverage experiencing a revolution right now. There is an abundance of craft-made spirits—from Gin to Rye—being distilled right here in BC. We have an extensive selection of these small-batch, artisanal spirits currently in stock and are always looking for new producers.
No guarantee that the sunny weather we’ve had recently will come back, but that shouldn’t stop you from celebrating the long weekend like it’s the middle of summer. These are some of the longest days of sunlight of the year and you can still grill outside if it’s 17° and partly cloudy (as the forecast predicts…).
This is an exciting time for both wine and craft beer—two of our favourite things, for sure. The craft beer world continues to grow and evolve and it’s been an exciting adventure to keep up with it all. One trend we’ve noticed (and we like) is the gradual move away from “everyday” beers in 650ml bombers.
Spring is here and warm, sunny weather is just around the corner. But, of course, there is that old maxim about April showers, so we’re not completely in the clear. We do have some staff picks, however, that’ll cover whatever the weather throws your way.
It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day and as a public service, we’re offering some alternatives to going out and drinking overpriced “green” beer (food dye in a pale lager) at an overcrowded bar. If you’re looking to cut loose on March 17, how about celebrating all things Irish with some of these products?
Not surprisingly, we sell more Guinness on St.
We’re always on the look out for unique spirits to add to our selection. We particularly have an affinity for local, small batch artisanal spirits and we have received some amazing ones recently from Odd Society Spirits in Vancouver, who are making really interesting and tasty products.
Happy New Year! We hope your holidays were filled with lots of good cheer. We are excited about what’s to come in 2015. Later this month (Jan. 29, to be specific) we will kick off the new year with an Extreme Beer Tasting at the Whole Beast & Village Butcher in Oak Bay. Details about that will follow in an upcoming event-specific newsletter.
Welcome to our new monthly newsletter! Every month we’ll be sending you our staff picks for the craft beer, wine and spirits that we’re loving at the moment.
Every week we’ll be posting tasting notes from our Friday Staff Tasting, providing you with our take on all the latest craft beer arrivals. This week we tackled several BC beers that are new to the store and Phillips Fermentorium’s new Hop Drop Elixir Liqueur. Our staff picks from the tasting are listed at the bottom of each beer’s tasting notes.
