We regularly post tasting notes from our Friday Staff Tasting, providing you with our take on all the latest craft beer arrivals. This week we sampled our way through a ton of fruity new brews, including lots of sours. These beers are perfect for the warm weather and they’re generally low in alcohol, so they are great thirst-quenchers. They’re just part of our ever-growing assortment craft beer which we chronicle here every week.

Green Flash Passion Fruit Kicker 5.5% 6pk (San Diego) Pours a hazy pale orange colour. Tart passion fruit notes on the nose. Bright tropical fruit notes on the palate with notes of passion fruit, grainy malt and a touch of sweetness to the tangy acidity.

• Wyld Lychee Berliner Weisse 3.2% (Vancouver)
Pours a clear pale straw yellow colour. Floral & fruity on the nose. Subtle lychee notes. Big acidity up front with grainy malt notes. Very dry, tart and light-bodied.
• Wyld Raspberry Berliner Weisse 3.2% (Vancouver)
Pours a clear pale orange-red colour. Notes of tart raspberries and grainy malt on the nose. Very dry and crisp on the palate with notes of popcorn, tart raspberries and biscuity malt.
• Wyld Peach Berliner Weisse 3.2% (Vancouver)
Pours a pale lemon yellow colour. Summery notes of ripe peach skin on the nose. Big fresh sour peach notes on the palate with piercing acidity.
Fuggles & Warlock Kiwami Sour Plum 6.3% 650ml (Richmond)
Pours a cloudy purple-tinged pale orange colour. Floral notes of ripe plum and a lactose creaminess on the nose. Creamy sour plum and purple fruit notes on the palate. Definitely tart but balanced by malty roundness.
Powell St. Simcoe Sour 6% 650ml (Vancouver)
Pours a rich yellow colour. Dank pine and tropical fruit hop notes on the nose. Not too sour with bold hop notes of pine, tropical fruit, lemon/lime & grapefruit.
Hoyne Entre Nous Cherry Witbier 5.1% 650ml (Victoria)
Pours hazy burnt orange-red colour. Classic witbier notes of clove & banana alongside a hint of cherry on the nose. Big Belgian yeast witbier spice notes with a delicious hit of fresh, ripe cherry. Nicely balanced.
Maui Hop Kine India Pale Lager 5.7% 6pk cans (Maui, HI)
Pours a slightly hazy pale yellow colour. Floral and grainy notes on the nose. Big hop presence on the palate with notes of mandarin and spice. A hint of sweetness, nice body. Very IPA-like.
Dageraad Blonde IPA 7.5% 650ml (Vancouver)
Pours a hazy golden yellow colour. Big banana and orchard fruit notes on the nose. Tons of ripe fruit—tropical fruit, banana, orchard fruit—on the palate and plenty of Belgian yeast spice. Soft mouthfeel. An IPA for those who don’t like too much bitterness.
