Craft Beer Tasting Notes: June 12

Brut Cidre Bouche Breton 5.5% 750ml (France)
Pours a rich golden yellow colour with fine bubbles. Funky and gamey on the nose. Hint of ripe apple sweetness up front, blue cheese funk and a tart finish.
Sicera Florentin Cider 4% 750ml (France)
Pours a rich golden yellow colour. Sweet apple and a hint of funk on the nose. Crisp carbonation, good juicy apple flavour, hint of funk, dry finish.   

Dominion True at First Light Wild Spartan Cider 7% 750ml (BC)
Light lemon yellow colour. Sweet floral apple notes on the nose with aromas of herbs and barnyard funk. Sweet up front with a bit of funk and a tannic grip on the dry and crisp finish. Good carbonation.

Modern Times Fruitlands Guava Passion Fruit Gose 4.8% 473ml (San Diego, CA)
Pours a cloudy orange-yellow colour. Floral notes of exotic guava and passion fruit on the nose. Juicy tart guava and passion fruit notes with a hint of salt and a touch of acidity.
Maui Two Tickets to Paradise Tart Tropical Saison 4.8% 355ml (Maui, HI)
Pours a bright cranberry red colour. Bready and grainy on the nose with a squeeze of lime zest. Bright, fresh lime and tart hibiscus on the palate with a hint of grainy malt. Pleasant acidity.

Sooke Oceanside Saseenos Session Ale 4.4% 650ml (Sooke, BC)
Pours a golden yellow colour. Subtle yeasty/bready notes on the nose. Sweet and round malt notes up front with a touch of fruit and a crisp, bitter finish.   

Rogue Kulture Clash Imperial Blonde Ale With Kombucha 6.9% 750ml (Oregon)
Pours a rich golden yellow colour. Vinegar and sour fruit notes on the nose. Sweet up front with vinegary acidity and sour strawberry notes on the finish. Nice sweet/sour balance.    

Fernie x Four Winds Sirocco Rauchbier with Figs 5.3% 650ml (BC)
Pours a pale orange-yellow colour. Notes of brown sugar, smoke and spice on the nose. Light smoke, rich malt and a hint of sweet fig on the palate. Big carbonation.

Collective Arts Ransack the Universe IPA 6.8% 473ml (Ontario)
Pours a hazy rich yellow colour. Notes of juicy tropical fruit and citrus on the nose. Spicy, juicy, piney and tropical on the palate.
Collective Arts Mash Up the Jam Dry Hop Sour 5.2% 473ml (Ontario)
Pours a hazy pale yellow colour. Bright Mosaic hop notes of tropical fruit, citrus and spice on the nose. Juicy and sour on the palate with notes of citrus and spice and a dry finish.
Collective Arts Life in the Clouds NE IPA 6.1% 473ml (Ontario)
Pineapple and fruit salad on the nose, dry grapefruit peel with sweet malts and a creamy, bitter finish.
Collective Arts Stranger Than Fiction Porter 5.5% 473ml (Ontario)
Pours a dark brown-black colour. Coffee, dark chocolate and butterscotch notes on the nose. Roasty notes of smoky espresso and bitter dark chocolate. Rich and satisfying,

St-Ambroise Tangerine IPA 6.2% 6pk (Quebec)
Pours a deep golden yellow colour. Juicy tangerine and bubblegum notes on the nose. Same juicy citrus notes on the palate with a citrus pith bitterness on the finish.
St-Ambroise Raspberry 5% 473ml (Quebec)
Pours a slightly cloudy reddish-brown colour. Nose is fairly muted with a hint of tart raspberry and fruit. There’s some really pleasant and up-front raspberry notes on the palate. Good malty backbone with a little sweetness to balance the fruitiness. Nice dry finish, excellent carbonation. A nice one for the patio in warm weather. Very refreshing. One of the better raspberry ales out there.

Category 12 Juicy Data Hazy IPA 6.1% 4pk (Saanich)
Pours a cloudy pale yellow colour. Juicy tropical fruit, citrus and spice notes on the nose. Fruit bomb! Soft mouthfeel, a bit sweet. Big bitter finish.   

Cannery Dualis Double IPA 8% 473ml (Penticton, BC)
Pours a crisp bright yellow colour. Boozy with funky hop notes on the nose. Citrus, spice and boozy sweetness on the palate with an earthy bitterness on the finish.
Twin Sails Brass Section Dry Hopped Saison 6.2% 473ml (Port Moody, BC)
Pours a bright golden yellow colour. Bright, spicy hop and bubblegum notes on the nose. Fruity and spicy on the palate with a hint of citrus.
Tofino x Strathcona Power Slides & Cheater 5’s Dry Hopped Lager 6.3% 473ml (BC)
Pours a rich bright yellow colour. Bright citrus, grainy malt and zesty hop notes on the nose. Smooth, malty and a touch sweet with a hit of citrus and a dry finish.
Dageraad The Bright SIde Tart Table Saison with Lemon 4.5% 473ml (Burnaby)
Pours a clear pale yellow colour. Notes of funk, wet grain, lemon zest and spice on the nose. Very light on the palate with soft notes of juicy lemon, spice and a hint of funk.

Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout 12.3% 355ml (Michigan)
Pours an intense, thick black colour. Aromas of booze, bourbon, molasses, rich chocolate and soy sauce on the nose. Sweet and boozy with intense bourbon and nutty chocolate cake.
