Craft Beer Tasting Notes: May 15

Wow, the sunny weather has really arrived! Lots of lighter, fruitier beers have shown up, too. We received a couple of wonderful sours in cans from Luppulo in Vancouver that really hit the spot on sunny days. You can put some together in your own custom 4pk and get 5% off at the till. Doan’s Doc’s Bock 5% 650ml (Vancouver)
Pours a copper orange-brown colour. Sweet, nutty, earthy and roasty aromas on the nose. Rich and malty on the palate with notes of cooked cereal, roasty grains and earthy hops.

Luppulo Serie Selvatica Gose With Black Lime 4.4% 473ml (Vancouver)
Pours a murky pale orange-yellow colour. Notes of lime, spice, funk and citrus on the nose. Big carbonation. Juicy citrus and tart lime notes on the palate with a hint of salt. Dry finish.
Luppulo Serie Selvatica Tart Wild Ale With Plums 5.4% 473ml (Vancouver)
Pours a cloudy, pink-tinged white-yellow colour. Aromas of sour plum and tart yogurt. Good acidity. Notes of tart plum and plain yogurt with a hint of funk on the palate.

Burdock Oria Guava 6.1% 375ml (Ontario)
Pours a hazy pale straw yellow colour. Juicy guava and funk notes on the nose. Good acidity. Notes of sour guava, with a dry finish.
Burdock Ero II 7.5% 375ml (Ontario)
Pours a red-tinted orange colour. Boozy, juicy cherry and funk notes on the nose. Round malt and tart cherry with sour, tannic boozy finish.

Engine House No. 9 Catharsis BA Saison 5.7% 750ml (Tacoma, WA)
Pours a golden yellow colour. Major funk with notes of tropical fruit, hay and pineapple on the nose. Very dry on the palate and very funky with notes of oak, spice and tart cider.
Engine House No. 9 Beersel Dreaming Belgian Pale Ale 6.8% 750ml (Tacoma, WA)
Pours rich golden yellow colour. Funky on the nose with notes of dried apple, pear and floral/herbal. Tart stone fruit, cereal grains, floral/dried herbs, spice with good acidity and a dry finish.

Steel + Oak Khlib Bread Beer 5.1% 500ml (Vancouver)
Pours a burnt orange colour. Bready, roasty, yeasty, chocolate malt notes on the nose. Slightly tart on the palate, with round roasty, bready malt notes. Unique.

Dageraad Entropy No. 7 Belgian-Style Oak Aged Brown Ale 8.5% 650ml (Burnaby, BC)
Pours a chestnut colour. Rich ripe fruit, and yeasty spice notes on the nose. Sweet and boozy on the palate with round notes of fruit, rich malt and spice.

Red Collar Doppelbock 7.7% 650ml (Kamloops, BC)
Pours a coffee black-brown colour. Dark roasty coffee and malt notes. Roasty chocolatey malt notes, smooth mouthfeel, boozy, biter finish.
Red Collar Alternative Facts Clouded IPA 5.6% 473ml (Kamloops, BC)
Pours a cloudy pale yellow colour. Funky floral hop notes of resin, berries and tropical fruit on the nose. Light tropical fruit and white wine notes on the palate.

Sierra Nevada Torpedo Extra IPA 7.2% 473ml (Chico, CA)
Pours a copper orange colour. Orange, citrus and sweet malt aromas. Sweet and malty with great citrus notes and an earthy, bitter finish.

Bomber Super Pest Unfiltered Double IPA 8% 473ml (Vancouver)
Pours a hazy golden yellow colour. Juicy citrus, citrus pith and tropical fruit notes on the nose. Light and fruity with juicy tropical fruit and citrus notes.
