New Craft Beer Tasting Notes: April 8

Every week we post tasting notes from our Friday Staff Tasting, providing you with our take on all the latest craft beer arrivals. This week the theme is definitely IPAs in every form imaginable: Belgian-style, Imperial, fruit-forward, etc. But also, don’t miss out on the rare Belgian sour, Golden Doesjel Oude Lambic, from 3 Fonteinen. We only have a very small allocation of these and once they are gone, we won’t get more for awhile.

russell punch bowl ipa

Russell Punch Bowl IPA 6.5% 650ml (Vancouver)
Pours a copper orange colour. Big juicy fruit and resin notes on the nose. Tropical fruit, citrus and spice on the palate. Good bitterness, nice balance.

coronado skull wrapper IPA

Coronado Skull Wrapper IPA 7% 650ml (San DIego)
Pours a deep yellow colour. Huge tropical fruit and citrus notes on the nose. Uber fruity and silky smooth on the palate with big pineapple and pine notes up front and a good hoppy, bitter finish. So delicious and easy to drink.

MSB_Belgian-300x300

Main St Belgian Bonsai IPA 6.9% 650ml (Vancouver)
Pours a slightly hazy copper orange colour. The nose is an exotic combination of funk, honey, fruit and grainy malt notes. On the palate it’s a touch sweet with complex notes of honey, clove and spice. A really cool take on the Belgian IPA style.
