Welcome to Beermail #89

Just in time for you to hunker down in the snowy winter gales, we’ve got you covered with our newest edition of Beermail! A Storm is coming, in more ways than one, and what better way to ride it out than tucked up with some delicious brews close at hand.

Introducing Storm Brewing, longtime quirky legends of the BC beer scene, now in cans and at your doorstep. We’ve packed in their Precipitation Pilsner, Hurricane IPA, and Black Plague Stout to give you a little introduction into what they’re all about (more limited brews available at the shop). Expect big flavours from these folk, they’ve been doing it since ’94.

Rounding out the US quota, we’ve got exciting news – Breakside Brewing out of Portland has got into the canning game! Showcasing the glory of the Northwest hops, their stalwarts India Pale Ale and Wanderlust IPA are sure to satisfy any hop-lovers dreams. Left Hand Brewing, hailing from the rocky foothills of Colorado, know what stout season means. Their Nitro Milk Stout hits the mark time and again. Pour hard and kick back.

From our own backyard Ile Sauvage comes out swinging with their new release, Framour, a dark sour with raspberries. Local masters of their craft, expect layers of dark and vinous brambly fruit with a pleasant sour acidity.

Keeping things fruity, R&B‘s Twisted Citrus marries cranberries and clementine’ to bring you a balanced and crisp, fruit forward blonde ale. Cheers to summer vibes, even in winter. Ever wonder what a hazy IPA hit with nitro is like? So have we. Nitro Hipster Haze from R&B finally answers the question, can a hazy get any creamier?

Driving the IPA train forward, Steel & Oak presents a “small IPA”. Super sessionable at 4.5%, Pipsqueak goes small on ABV but big on flavor. Vice & Virtue’s second offering here on the island is a big one. Weighing in at 7.4%, Homewrecker might be the perfect follow up. Expect ripe and dank mandarin orange hop notes, with a more malt dominant profile rolled into this hazy IPA.

If you find yourself dozing off under the weight of all these blankets and beers, Steamworks has got you covered. Their Nitro Cold Brew Cream Ale is crushable and loaded with coffee, don’t go softly into that goodnight.
