Welcome to Beermail #94!

The new beers are coming fast and furiously. Now that the doors to a brighter sun-clad future have been thrown open, we can rejoice with open arms the plethora of flavours that have been waiting to wash over you.

Let the bugles announce the return of Brass Section, a dry-hopped saison from Twin Sails brewery out of Port Moody. Expect notes of pear, white grape, and melon, layered onto biscuity and peppery saison spice. A delight.

Envisioning a fictional place where friendships can reignite, Powell and Four Winds bring you Phantasy Mews. Hitting that pleasant hybrid between bitter and refreshing, this hoppy wheat ale is truly a sign of things to come. If two’s a company, then three might just be a celebration. Teaming up with another set of pals, comes Spinavy. This Powell x House of Funk collaboration is a gorgeous rendition of a Czech-style pilsner with the marriage of three different strains of Brettanomyces. Big on the funk and even bigger on the crispyness.

Three wasn’t enough? Steel & Oak and 33 Acres have come together and created something mysterious…India Pale Ale. It’s yours to discover, we sure will.

From our friends down at Herald St. here in Victoria, we are more than proud to offer you two of their latest and greatest. Funshine is the elusive India Pale Lager. Bright, juicy, and citrusy, with a clean and balanced hop profile. Robuster offers nearly the opposite, this imperial stout is true to its namesake. Rich and perfectly robust, it opens beautifully as it warms. Something to savor.

Backcountry Brewing has made a name for itself with an ever-present line-up of decadent sour creations. But don’t let that fool you. Their hoppy stuff is as as good as the rest. Are You Too Good For Your Home??? is a straight up pale ale for you to crush on the links, and Come out to the Coast (we’ll get together and have a few laughs) is a West Coast IPA with a heavy mosaic hop bill.

Continue down the stream of rock-solid beers from Field House, we’re bringing you a Passion Fruit Lime Sour, perfect for those citrus lovers in your life. Big on the lime with a pleasant passionfruit acidity rounding it out. For the hop lovers a Talus Sabro Hazy IPA, pairing two new New World hops for the coconut and fruit salad fans. Juicy, spicy, and fresh.

The transition from bottles to cans can be a tough pill to swallow for some. But Four Winds is making it a little easier, now canning their perennial favorite Pequeno Cabo. A tequila barrel-aged sour weisse, it’s refreshing and tangy with a subtle oak-influence driving that summery sour profile.

And last but not least, we have Moody Ales. Their lavender sour has been one of the hottest ticket items we sell, and they’re back at it again with a Mango Sour. A true portal to a tropical vacation.
