Our February BC Wine Feature of the Month is Blue Grouse Estate Winery & Vineyard.
The Vancouver Island wine region staple underwent a big vineyard expansion in the last few years.
Blue Grouse Winery and Team have been planning their 26-acre vineyard expansion under Pedro Parra’s tutelage. They have been working with Señor Terroir for about 5 years now, starting with their first expansion, the Paula vineyard which was planted in 2017. The Brunner Vineyard is the current expansion project and will have five varietals: Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, and some Gamay Noir. Planting started in 2020 and will continue this year in February and May.
ABOUT PEDRO PARRA
Pedro Parra was born in Concepción, Chile, near Bio Bio and Itata, and he is raising his family there now. Pedro holds a PhD in terroir from the Paris Center of Agriculture, with six years’ experience in French terroirs. As a highly respected consultant working in several countries and terroirs (Chile, Argentina, USA, Italy, Canada, France, Armenia), Pedro brings an open mind and vision to winemakers and viticulturists alike.
