There’s no real “theme” to this week’s post, but it should be noted that we now have Coronado Brewing beers from San Diego, as well as an old favourite, Sierra Nevada Narwhal Imperial Stout back in stock.
Historic Ales From Scotland Gift Pack
Alba Scots Pine Ale 7.5%
Pours a golden orange colour. Sweet notes of bubblegum, pine and booze on the nose. On the palate you get an orange citrus character with a malty backbone. Tropical fruit notes linger into long bitter finish.
Froach Heather Ale 5%
Pours a hazy golden yellow colour. Floral/herbal notes of grass, twig and grain. Similar notes on the palate a touch of sweet grain. Full-bodied with a with creamy mouthfeel.
Grozet Gooseberry Wheat Ale 5%
Pours a pale yellow colour. On the nose you get tart gooseberry, spice and straw. The palate features super ripe gooseberry, coriander, spice and grape stem notes.
Elderberry Black Ale 6.5%
Pours a dark brown/chestnut brown hue. Notes of dark berries on the nose, along with smoke, char and grainy oats. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel with dark malt and fruit notes on the palate and a bitter finish.
Coronado Islander IPA 7% 650ml (California)
Pours a clear golden yellow colour. Typical West Coast IPA notes of pine and resin with some floral character, as well. The palate is light on the tropical fruit with a solid malt backbone followed by hot bitterness. An assertive and full-flavoured IPA.
Coronado Blue Bridge Coffee Stout 5.4% 650ml (California)Pours a dark brown colour with a reddish tint. On the nose you get notes of ground coffee, light sour cherry and smoke. The palate is relatively light and creamy with nice caramel notes followed by long black coffee bitterness.
Hilliards Murdered Out Stout 5.1% 4-pk tall cans (Seattle)
Pours a rich black colour. Notes of toasted malt and black coffee on the nose. Similar roasty notes on the palate, with a clean dry finish.
Sierra Nevada Narwhal Imperial Stout 10.2% 4-pks (California)
Pours an infinite blackness. On the nose notes of cream, molasses and melted dark chocolate. Very smooth on the palate where notes of milk chocolate and cream dominate.
Burnside Permafrost Northwest Winter Ale 8.3% 650ml (Portland)
Pours a reddish orange colour. The nose features inviting notes of sweet malt, pineapple and orange. On the palate there’s grapefruit bitterness, notes of resin and a big hit of booze.
